We provide educational and vocational opportunities, language, and skills training to Cambodia’s poorest countryside children aged 6 to 18.
Most children and adults in the Khmer countryside from poor families are not able to speak basic English, or even pursue higher education. Children who grow up without proper education are more likely to face unemployment, food shortages, hygiene and health issues, and are at greater risk of being drawn into illegal activity such as drug addiction and family violence.
Our school is working to reverse this, providing a much-needed hand up to some of the country’s poorest children and youth.
Building skills for the future
We work to fill the gap between education provided by the national government and real-world demand. Even though public schools provide free education at the primary and secondary levels in Cambodia, the curriculum focuses on Khmer and other subjects like math. English instruction is very limited in quality and quantity, with only one and half hours of class per week. Public schools also do not provide classes in computer skills, other important languages or life skills, e.g. how to grow food and feed animals (organic farming and sustainable living), take care of the environment (reducing plastics pollution), and stay safe (including transport and food safety).
